Of the Trinity

After Jesus stood up again, he gave the disciples the task to evangelise in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Thus, God has been perceived as a trinity. But until now, it has not been clear how the relationship between the godheads is. The godheads have been referred to as persons, distinct from each other but still one, but no illustration has been given on how the godheads work. The Pope has referred to the Trinity as the mystery of all times.

I explained the Trinity by three poems in March-April 2011 and sent the poems by mail or by e-mail to a lot of recipients around the world. The Pope, the Norwegian bishops and the English archbishops got a leaflet by mail. By e-mail the poems were sent to every deanery and to every Christian organization in Norway. They were sent to every bishop of respectively Denmark, Sweden, Finland, England, and the Evangelical Church of Germany. They were sent to a lot of churches in the U.S.A. And they were sent to a lot of different churches and individuals around the globe.

I received letters of gratitude from both the two English archbishops, from one Swedish bishop, and from a Philippine minister. Other than that I heard nothing.

The three poems, called “The Trinity”, are to be found on this web page in my collection of poems called “Love and care”, linked to in the sidebar.

There are especially four perspectives we can take upon the Trinity. Any of the four perspectives are correct, but the focus on the Trinity differs by them. We can perceive the Trinity as:
  • the corn coming to life by being sown, by flourishing, and by being harvested. If we do, we focus on the intention of the Father, which is to produce yield by engaging the earth. And we focus on the effort of the earth in making the Holy Spirit valid.

  • the heart, the body and the blood. If we do, we focus on the salvage of the Son, in that respect The Son, being the body, or the skin, dies for the heart to live. The heart is seen different from the mind, the blood is seen different from the nerve, and the body is seen different from the hair.

  • the heaven, the earth and the firmament. If we do, we focus on the love of the firmament – of the Holy Spirit. The firmament gives both rain and light. And the lights are either of three kinds, given by the stars, the moon and the sun, or the light is divided in two by the light of the day and the light of the night.

  • the water, or well, the river and the sea. If we do, we focus on the sameness of the Father, The Holy Spirit and The Son, or the unity of The Trinity, at the same time as we point out that The Son by nature is different.
To evangelise in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit means our perspective will change dependent upon what we will focus on. In any perspective God is love.
